About Us
The Garden City Tennis Series was founded with a passion to elevate and expand the sport of tennis in the greater Boston area. With over 200 public and private courts in the City of Newton, the series aims to create a vibrant tennis community through organized, sanctioned UTR tournament play. Tennis is a lifelong sport that fosters connections among families, friends, and communities, and our goal is to provide engaging and competitive tournaments for players of all ages and skill levels. From novice beginners to high-performance juniors and adults, and even doubles enthusiasts, there’s an opportunity for everyone to participate.
Our Mission
Our mission with each Garden City event - Challengers, Singles, and Doubles Championships - is to bring together a community of passionate, like-minded individuals who share a love of the sport. It seems that there has been a great shift over the years towards robotic learning, focusing on technical harmony and drill patterns, which fails to celebrate the real beauty of this sport - the competition, the fight, the grueling play between two fierce competitors. Our hope is that the Garden City Tennis Series will bring a nuanced, fresh perspective, and love for the competition of tennis, teaching the current and growing generation about what it means to be a true competitor in sport.

All events are held in memory of Isadore Singer, avid tennis player and MIT math professor, with support from New England Tennis & Education Foundation
