The Role of the Parent
The role of the parent is not the role of the coach. We want to encourage the child's effort, celebrating each attempt, and ensuring the child feels supported and confident to try again and again. This relentless encouragement builds their confidence and fortifies their trust in us - no matter the outcome, we will be there for them. Children will then feel the liberty and freedom essential to making mistakes, learning, experimenting, and simply just being a kid. Focus on how the child behaves and conducts themselves on the court, emphasizing principles of sportsmanship and ethical actions, rather than fixation on the result.
